Our Consultants

Amy Overbay, PhD, Lead Consultant                                              
Amy holds an MA in English, and a PhD in Curriculum and  Instruction. For nine years, she worked as a program evaluator with NC State University's Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, and has also worked for Wake County's Evaluation and Research department. Her clients include NCSU's College of Engineering, Caldwell County Schools, and NCSU's Soil and Crop Science Department.  Her evaluation work has included mixed-method longitudinal studies of multi-site projects in North Carolina, as well as studies of smaller scale district-wide  and school-based programs.  Prior to her career as an evaluator, Amy taught composition and literature courses as a Visiting Lecturer at N.C. State University, and was an N.C. Teaching Fellow.  She has currently serves as a Writing Coach for Gaston College and for the math   graduate program at UNC-Greensboro. Her published work has appeared in   national and international education journals.


Lisa L. Grable, PhD, Consulting Associate
Lisa’s MEd and PhD are in Science Education. She worked at NC State University in many capacities, including The Science House (Precollege Education Director for the NSF FREEDM Systems Center), the Friday Institute, the College of Education, and the Department of Physics. Dr. Grable has taught science at the middle, high school, and college level. She has served in leadership roles for the American Association of Physics Teachers and the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education, and is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Instructional Technology in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Her previous evaluation work includes studies  of multi-site school and district based implementation projects in technology                                                     and science.                                    


Robert Eller, MA, Consultant
Robert is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (China) with an MA in English Education.  He has over fifteen years of teaching experience with high school, university, and post-graduate students and content.  He currently oversees a school Writing Center and teaches an AP English Literature and Composition class. He has presented at several workshops on Writing Across the Curriculum and Composition Skills, and has experience working with native and non-native English speakers.

Angie Bass, BA, Consultant
Angie holds a BA in English (Writing & Editing concentration), with a minor in Classical Studies. She has five years of experience in proofreading and writing ad copy.  She also has ten years of experience as a freelance writer and virtual assistant, creating newsletters, flyers and brochures.
